A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE PICBOOKARTS LISTSERV AND SITE:

In early 1999 a small, online illustrator's critique group decided to create a new listserv specifically for experienced children's book illustrators.

APRIL 1999
John Nez, Laura Jacobsen, Janie Bynum, Joy Allen, John Kanzler, Theresa Brandon, Kevan Atteberry,Katie Davis, and Phyllis Pollema-Cahill set up the original PicBookArts listserv. The first Moderators were John Nez, John Kanzler, Theresa Brandon and Phyllis Pollema-Cahill

MAY 2002
PictureBookArtists.com's domain is registered by Max Haynes who launches the PBA site.

JANUARY 2003
January to July 2003, Susan K Hartung, Sharon Vargo, Loreen Leedy, John Nez, Max Haynes and Ellen Beier were the "Postcard Committee".

JULY 2003
The first PBA postcard is produced and distributed.

AUGUST 2003
Start of the advisory board consisting of: Nancy Coffelt, June Goulding, Loreen Leedy, Barbara J. Newman, Sharon Vargo, Marion Eldridge and Denise Ortakales

NOVEMBER 2003
A permanent PR committee is formed consisting of: Susan Havice, Cheryl Nathan, Kevan Atteberry, David Hohn, Cynthia Decker and Donna Berger

FEBRUARY 2004
The first PBA ad comes out in Picturebook 2004. Kevan Atteberry takes over as Webmaster

JULY 2004
Picture Book Artists Association (PBAA) incorporated as a non-profit organization.

April 2005
PBAA reincorporates as a for-profit corporation.  Barry Gott becomes Treasurer.  Start of the Membership Committee consisting of: Jennifer Emery, Andrea Gabriel, June Goulding, Maurie Manning and Philomena O'Neill.

August 2005
Sharon Vargo becomes a Board Member.

September 2005
Listserve Committee and Conference Committee are formed. Advisory Committee is dissolved.

February 2006
Patrick Girouard becomes a Board Member.

March 2006
Cynthia Decker becomes a Board Member.

September 2006
Paula Pertile becomes a Board Member.

March 2007
Jennifer Emery becomes President/Secretary.

November 2007
Cynthia Decker becomes President/Secretary. Carol Koeller becomes Treasurer.

JUNE 2008
Freddie Levin becomes Vice President/Assistant Treasurer. Melanie Siegel and Molly Schaar-Idle become board members. Peggy Collins joins the Promo committee. Diane Greenseid joins t he Membership committee.
